Recycle Brevard Festival plants seeds of sustainability
couple of years back, Marcia Booth's young daughter spied the garbage truck passing by and wondered to her mom where all the trash went. The question led to a family tour of the Brevard County landfill in Cocoa and to a deeper appreciation of the critical global need to better manage trash.
During the tour, Booth learned that less than a third of Brevard residents recycle. Incentivized by the desire to up that number, Booth launched a recycling blog and Facebook presence and, later, the organization that hosts the annual Recycle Brevard Festival, which will take place Nov. 16, this year. The festival celebrates America Recycles Day, a Keep America Beautiful iniative.
